About the Hunter’s Hope Foundation
The Hunter’s Hope Foundation was established in 1997 by Jim Kelly – Buffalo Bills Hall of Fame Quarterback – and his wife Jill, after their infant son Hunter (2/14/97—8/5/05) was diagnosed with Krabbe Leukodystrophy, an inherited fatal nervous system disease.
While Jim and Jill have been blessed with the opportunity to share Hunter’s story and the hope of the Foundation named after their son all over the world, their greatest passion is to bring encouragement and hope to families in the midst of suffering.
Find out more about Hunter’s Hope and its mission to fund research for better treatments and ultimately a cure for Krabbe and other Leukodystrophies, to increase newborn screening standards at both state and federal levels, and provide care programs to the over 700 families the Foundation is proud to serve by visiting their website (www.huntershope.org).
About the Donate Life
Today in the United States, there are more than 113,000 men, women and children on an organ transplant waiting list. Nearly 9,000 are waiting in New York State, with almost 600 from our region alone.
The Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network (FLDRN) is a not-for-profit organ donor program that coordinates organ and tissue donations in New York State’s Finger Lakes, Central and Upstate regions. This organization serves as the critical link between patients awaiting life-saving and life-changing organ and tissue transplants and donors who give the gift of life through organ donation.
